A cat in the 'Gothic' style by Louis Wain (1860-1939). Wain's cat illustrations were phenomenally popular in Victorian England. Wain experienced severe mental health problems, spending many years of his life as an inpatient in Springfield, Bethlem and Napsbury hospitals. Whilst in Bethlem, Wain continued to draw for pleasure, with cats remaining among his favourite subjects. Wellcome Collection. 170mm x 120mm (6 3/4" x 4 3/4"). Blank inside. Printed with vegetable-based inks on a carbon-neutral press using 100% recycled carbon-neutral paper. Individually wrapped in a compostable bag with a 120gsm recycled kraft envelope.
